Whole-garlic buying guide
Use this checklist to explain what you need and compare a supplier response. KANYU coordinates fresh whole-garlic enquiries from Ontario with a supplier in Jinxiang, China.
An enquiry checklist, not a confirmed product specification, price list or certificate.
Product and packing
- Whole bulbs
- Fresh garlic with skin on. State the origin, variety or colour your business requires.
- Size and quality
- Specify the diameter range in cm, how it is measured, and your acceptable appearance and defect limits.
- Bulk cartons
- Specify net kg per case, inner packing, pallet requirements and intended use: wholesale, repacking or food preparation.
- Smaller retail packs
- Specify bulbs or net weight per pack, packs per case, label languages and barcode needs.
These are requirements to review with the supplier, not a statement of current stock or available pack sizes.
Trial, samples and receiving
- Trial volume
- Use cases, pallets or metric tonnes. Add likely repeat volume if known.
- Sample request
- Explain what you need to evaluate, the quantity and destination. Confirm sample cost and shipping before dispatch.
- Destination and date
- Provide city, province, target receiving window and any appointment or unloading requirements.
- Transport and storage
- Ask for the product-specific handling, storage and transit conditions. Do not infer them from a generic garlic photograph.
Document review
- Product specification: origin, bulb size, quality criteria, packing and applicable storage instructions.
- Lot and label information: identify the supplier, product and lot, and agree the information required on the packing.
- Testing or certification: state the required document and purpose. Check issuer, scope, dates, lot coverage and when it can be provided.
- Import and delivery documents: agree who is responsible for reviewing requirements, arranging clearance and supplying the shipment records.
Documents must relate to the actual product and supplier. A business licence is not product certification. No certificate or test result is promised by this checklist.
Before accepting an offer
Confirm the exact product, minimum quantity, currency, unit price, included costs, validity, payment terms, shipment window and named delivery point. Identify who handles freight, import clearance, duties, taxes, inland delivery and quality claims.
For example, a port-based price and a delivered-to-warehouse price cover different responsibilities. Neither should be assumed from an Ontario contact address.
